Today my first eBay auctions closed. Although I sold everything I posted, only one bidder has paid up so far (it's only been a couple hours since they closed so I'll give everyone a while before I start panicking....)
However, the one person who did pay up, promptly deposited his money into my PayPal account and I promptly mailed the item. Minus the shipping cost, I made $12.36 to add to my challenge money, which now is up to $19.77.
I'm officially an eBay seller now....

Personally, since I buy things rarely, I sometimes can't find my paypal password - that is the only reason I don't pay instantly.

Ebay has changed so much since it started. Way back when, after an auction ended, you had to e-mail the buyer with the total due. Then the buyer had to mail you a check. You had to deposit it and wait for it to clear. Then you had to take the item to the post office to ship it. It wasn't unusual for there to be 2-3 weeks between the end of the auction and the time the item was actually in the buyer's hands.
Today, the auction ends at 8pm. Your listing includes all the shipping costs and the buyer can pay via Paypal instantly, so by 8:05pm, the money is in your account. You can then print the postage right there at home and your mailman takes the package the next day. The buyer will sometimes have the item in his hands in less than 48 hours. Amazing.
